Strawberry Plants 18 Sep, Sharron Berry (USA - Zone 5b climate)
How do I winter Strawberries in ZONE 5b we have a very short growing season and are at 9000 feet. We tend to get a perma frost
Strawberry Plants 18 Sep, Liz (New Zealand - temperate climate)
Sharron, you can lift your plants and save the runners with roots started. If no runners then just use the plants. Wrap them in sacking and keep dry and out of the frost until you are ready to plant them. Then water well and plant as usual. They will take a little while to get started, starting them inside in pots might help.

Has anyone had experience of planting maize in this climate at this time? Will it work or am I likely to be disappointed? Thanks for any help. Katie

Is available at my area? what is this vegi good for?
Chicory (also Witloof, Belgian endive) 21 Mar, GodsChild17 (USA - Zone 9a climate)
Chicory is used as a coffee substitute, you use the roots of the plant. People used it this way during the Great Depression. Yes you absolutely can grow any plant you want to grow just make sure to plant things for your zone at the right time of the year… every page at the top has a click down menu so you can pick your growing zone and choose whatever plant you’re wanting to grow. Also you can always go to Google and type in zone 9A planting guide and then at the top click images and there is a ton of printable guides…. Also the back of every seed packet tells you also.
Brussels sprouts 13 Jun, Kathy (USA - Zone 6b climate)
Hi! When it says "S" it means start seeds inside, when it says "T" it means to transplant those seedlings outside in the garden. When it says "P" for plant outside does that mean you plant the seeds outside? I'm unsure because, take Brussels Sprouts for example - It says "S" in March and "P" in May and June; what is the "P" referring to? I'm just confused because some vegetables have an "S" and a "T". Thanks for any help you can give me!!! "Plant in garden" means to sow seed directly into the garden where you want the plant to grow.
Rockmelon (also Canteloupe) 29 May, Garvin Johny (USA - Zone 13b climate)
My Rock melon leaves are turning yellow near the edges and the buds at the end of the tendrils are also the same. Some of the young leaves I suspect are being eaten by something. I would love a solution.
Rockmelon (also Canteloupe) 01 Jun, elaine (USA - Zone 10a climate)
not sure what is causing the yellowing - could be a number of things - too much water, or not enough nitrogen in the soil. You could try side dressing with composted manure. To stop the bugs spray with neem. 1 teaspoon neem oil in 1 quart of water with a dash of soap (washing up liquid works fine) and spray early evening. Also sprinkle diatomaceous earth over and around the plants. use the neem and DE on alternate days till you notice the leaves are not being eaten. happy harvesting!

We live in central utah and have always had trouble getting bell peppers to grow to matuity..what are some good ways to get these finicky guys to mature?
Capsicum (also Bell peppers, Sweet peppers) 07 Jan, Sarah (USA - Zone 8a climate)
I've had better luck growing them against the southern side of the house. That way the heat from the sun is bouncing back off the building onto the plants. You can also make a little wall around them to help heat them.
Potato 28 Jan, Mary (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I am trying to find a white potato to purchase now. Planting season for potatoes is growing short. Do you sell Zone 10a seed potatoes I may purchase now.
