(Best months for growing Okra in USA - Zone 5a regions)

  • S = Plant undercover in seed trays
  • T = Plant out (transplant) seedlings
  • P = Sow seed
  • Grow in seed trays, and plant out in 4-6 weeks. Sow seed at a depth approximately three times the diameter of the seed. Best planted at soil temperatures between 20°C and 35°C. (Show °F/in)
  • Space plants: 35 - 60 cm apart
  • Harvest in 11-14 weeks.
  • Compatible with (can grow beside): Peppers (Capsicum, Chili), Eggplant (Aubergine)

Got mine from bunnings. Soaked them in wet tissues in door for abt 4-5 days for the seeds to swell. Plant the seeds in garden bed or seed trays in sunny position and keep moist. I was told ocra loves sun light. The hotternthe better.

It will be a challenge. Okra needs a long hot growing season (best in tropical/sub-tropical QLD, southern US)

Hello, i planted seeds in a small seedling tray, its already been 5 weeks and nothins is happening please help

I planted some 6 seeds (Fothergill) straight into the ground with a skewer next to them and they have all come up. Placed some of tha torange netting (from bag of oranges) over them to stop the birds and then snail bait. They'll all coming along fine.
